My family is pretty keen on knowing the weather. Either to plan washing for tomorrow, or to avoid getting drenched in the next 45mins on my bike, there's nothing like a rain radar and a seven day forecast.
These are the best two weather widgets I've seen:

The first is TheBom Weather Widget. The second is BOMRadar.Au
Enjoy :)

Have you noticed the differnece b/w ABC news Tasmania Vs ABC news NSW. The weather segment is way more detailed - weather warnings, road warnings, grazier warnings, wind speed and direction. Now you might put this down to the fact that we are more a regional centre (ie we aren't dominated by a a number of cities like NSW). But I want to propose something more: Tasmanians really love their weather. Its not just that we are all farmers and fishermen - the average guy cares.
I reckon it's probably a legacy thing, too. So, back in the (not so distant) day Mike Pook really put an expectation on our hearts for detailed weather reports. I reckon the ABC know that, and respond by honouring the Pook legacy with continued good reporting.
But you're right. We love it :) It probably dove-tails in with our whole romance with Mt Wellington, too. The mountain influences Hobartian weather so much, it's where you look for a sense of where the weather's headed... it's symbiosis ;)
the other option is to use web-clips and just go tp the bom website and right click on your web page and choose 'open in dashboard' then select the weather picture for a 7 day forecast... that's what i use now... (the bom widget crashed my machine a few times too many)
Mmmm. Thanks for the tip, Stan.

The weather has personality in Tasmania. It's like a quirky friend that everyone knows and has a soft spot for. And we benefit from the association - having such a unpredictable friend makes us resilient and down to earth. Having said that I never ever look at weather reports - I just wait to see what (few things) happen.
